Controversial feature Crime to join with POWA for the 16 days of Activism 2010 here at The Bioscope

Crime – It’s a way of life and POWA (People Opposing Women Abuse) have joined hands in 2010 to work  together to raise awareness of 16 Days of Activism. This an international campaign run worldwide under the auspices of the United Nations and takes place annually from the 25th November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to the 10th December (International Human Rights Day / International Animal Rights Day). Proceeds of the sale of this DVD will go towards supporting POWA.

The Bioscope launch the Film+ School project with the Goethe Institute

The Bioscope have teamed up with the Goethe Institute, and put together a special program for schools!
The central aims of the initiative are to introduce young learners to the art of filmmaking, to spark interest in a wide range of topics and to encourage discussion. The initial FILM+SCHOOL will explore African cinema with a focus on South African films and will run from October until the end of the 2010 school year for a total of 7 screenings.
